Bath salts are relaxing and luxurious. Bath salts make a great gift. This tutorial will explain how to take old jars and leftover or sample perfume and make it into a nice gift of bath salts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Find an old jar to use for your bath salts. Be sure the jar has a top that fits securely.

You can decorate the jar by painting the glass or adding gold leaf to the glass. If you do not know how to paint on glass see our eHow How to Paint on Glass at http://www.ehow.com/how_5174615_paint-wine-glass.html
If you do not know how to add gold leaf to glass see our eHow How to Use Gold Leaf on Glass at http://www.ehow.com/how_4836439_use-gold-leaf-glass.html or click the links in the resource section of this article.

  2. Step 2

Decide what perfume you want to use.

  3. Step 3

Mix 3 cups of Epsom Salt, 2 cups of sea salt, 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 tsp liquid glycerin (optional skin moisturizer) in a large bowl. Stir well.

  4. Step 4

If you want to add color, add a few drops of liquid soap-safe colorant or mica to the salt and stir before you mix in the fragrance. Add only a drop of colorant or two at a time and mix well.

  5. Step 5

Mix in about 1/2 ounce of fragrance or essential oil a drop at a time until the mixture has the strength and fragrance you want. Mix thoroughly.

  6. Step 6

Put the mixture in your jar. Shake the jar from time to time for the next few days. Put the mixture into a jar that will seal tightly.

  7. Step 7

To use the bath salts, draw a warm bath. Add about 1/4 cup of the bath salts to the running bath water. Relax and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Layers of color add a nice visual touch to your bath salts. If you want multiple colors, divide the salt mixture and color a portion at a time. Add the bath salts to the jar a layer of color at a time.
  • Some folks are allergic to certain fragrances. Be sure to label ingredients when giving bath salts as a gift.
