Who says you can’t put candles and flowers in the same vase? I say you can! You can use flower/candle combos as centerpieces or décor on the edges of a walk path. They are perfect during a summer night or as a romantic dinner centerpiece--and are extremely simple to create. Here is how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tall glass vessel
  • Votive candle
  • Stem flower
  • Ribbon
  • Saucer
  1. Step 1

You will need a tall glass vessel, such as a hurricane or slender vase, a votive or pillar candle that fits inside your hurricane, a square candle holder or small dish with a lip, a single-stem flower and some thin ribbon or raffia. I recommend using garden roses for a romantic atmosphere or sunflowers and dahlias (pictured) for a casual ambience. You should be able to find these materials at a local crafts store such as Michaels, Target or Wal-Mart.

  2. Step 2

Place the candle inside the glass vessel. The height of the candle should not matter too much as long as it is shorter than the vessel.

  3. Step 3

Cut a single flower so that it is the same height as the vessel. Tie the stem to the vessel using a matching ribbon or raffia.

  4. Step 4

Fill the small saucer with a bit of water for the flower (you can also use a large candle holder vase for this purpose too).
