How to Get Gum Out of Clothes

Kids love to chew gum, and it's a treat you might let them enjoy now and then. The trouble is what happens all too often: A wad of gum lands on a shirt or skirt and makes a sticky mess. It's not too difficult to remove the gum, though, if you tackle the blob right away. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Remove the article of clothing and set it somewhere to let the gum dry.

      Pour vinegar over the gummed area until the area around and under the gum is saturated.

      Sprinkle baking soda over the gum so that you can't see the gum.

      Put the article of clothing in the freezer and wait a couple of hours.

      Take the article of clothing out of the freezer. Use the tweezers to remove the gum.

      Wash the clothing as usual.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can't get all the gum off, try spraying the remaining bits with hairspray to loosen the gum.
