Stop your hair from falling out. Advice on what to do if your hair is shedding or falling out and how to prevent baldness and hair loss.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Discontinue all use of hair chemicals. This includes hair dyes, relaxers, perms and treatments. Misuse of chemicals and certain hair care products can instantly cause baldness, hair breakage and stress to your tresses.

  2. Step 2

Ask yourself if you are getting enough sleep and ask yourself how am I coping with life stress? Many people forget that an overload of stress and not getting enough sleep can cause hair loss. Find ways to reduce your stress (like perhaps yoga or picking up a new hobby) and never pull all-nighters where you miss entire days of sleep.

  3. Step 3

Change your diet. Are you getting enough protein and vitamins in your diet? Try biotin supplements which aid in healthy hair and nails. Individuals who do not receive well-balanced diets tend to suffer from hair breakage and loss.

  4. Step 4

Get exercise. Breaking a sweat through working out is healthy for your scalp and actually promotes healthy hair growth. Aim to break a sweat once a day and you'll be on your way to a healthier head of hair and a healthier body as well.

  5. Step 5

Restore your hair each day with moisture. Moisture is important no matter what texture of hair you have. Always use a moisturizing shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner set on your hair. If your hair is curly or ethnic, it may require you to put in leave-in moisturizers in addition to your daily shampoo and conditioner.

  6. Step 6

Give yourself a scalp massage to encourage scalp circulation and hair growth. Use the fleshy parts of your fingers to rub your scalp in circular motions. This will encourage your hair to grow and encourage your scalp to release natural oils that will protect your hair and scalp.
