HubPages is not your ordinary online publishing site. It offers writers so much potential to earn money in so many different ways. Too many that we will not be able to discuss the details in this article alone. This article only covers the basics and how to start up making money online with HubPages.

Step 1

SIGN-UP FOR FREE. Sign up with HubPages by simply filling in an application form. After signing up you can go ahead and write your first content right away.
Step 2

Every time you submit content, a web page is created called a hub. HubPages provides members (hubbers) all the tools necessary to make writing simple and easy. Hubs are created by adding different capsules like text, photo, video, links, comments, or affiliates which allows for great flexibility on how you would like your hubs to look like. It is really a powerful tool in terms of being in control of your contents.
Step 3

HUBTIVITY. HubPages have a huge community of writers who are always willing to help. The forums are very active and addicting too so be sure to socialize with fellow hubbers to learn fast. Hubs are scored based on page views, comments, and quality.
Step 4

GOOGLE ADS. You get 60% of the earnings for every hub and for the life of your hub. This is not the highest profit sharing but it is a good number considering HubPages is a highly indexed and trusted site by Google. Google ads are automatically added on your hubs but you can control the settings on how much ads will appear on page.

KONTERA. You can sign up for Kontera for additional affiliate earnings although it might not be advisable to have too much affiliates in one single hub page.

AMAZON. You can sign up for Amazon affiliate program and add products on your hubs. Every time visitors purchase Amazon products through the links on your page then you will earn a certain percentage. You need to add Amazon capsule to be able to display products on your hubs.

EBAY. You can sign up for E-Bay affiliate program which works similarly as the Amazon. It also requires e-Bay capsule to be able to display links.
Step 5

PROMOTE YOUR HUBS. Although HubPages is a highly indexed site, it is still recommended that you promote your hubs outside through social networking and bookmarking sites. Interlink your hubs to get more views and increase site ranking.

REFERRALS. There are two methods in earning money on HubPages by referrals. First method is to refer a member to sign up with HubPages using your referral link. This will allow you to earn 10% of all his ad impressions for the life of his hubs. Second method is by referring traffic from outside to your hubs, HubPages homepage, or other hubber's hubs. The second method is a bit complicated because there are several combinations to earn from ad impressions using your URL Tracker.
