Instructions

  1. Making the Lotion

    • 1

Place 1/2 cup oil and 2 tbsp. of beeswax into a microwave-safe bowl.

    • 2

Heat the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds and check the consistency of the ingredients. It should be smooth and neither too thick nor too runny.

    • 3

Heat for another 30 seconds and continue to do so until the beeswax has melted into the oil.

    • 4

Slowly add 2 1/2 cups of hot water to the oil and beeswax mixture and mix using a whisk or fork until oils are evenly distributed.

    • 5

Add 40 drops of scented body splash and stir with whisk or fork.

    Bottling the Lotion

    • 6

Give the lotion mixture time to cool until it thickens. It is best to let it sit overnight.

    • 7

Pour the lotion into the bottle and cap it tightly to keep it fresh.

    • 8

Store in a cool, dry spot and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

  • View the reference links to find out about other products you can add to the lotion such as oatmeal, citrus, essential oils, fruit extract or vitamins. Note that the measurement of the ingredients will differ depending on what additional products you add. Label your bottle of lotion with the date and scent. If you want the quickest at-home lotion, buy a bottle of unscented lotion base and add the scented body splash of your choice. Stir these together, and you now have scented lotion.

  • Be careful when adding the water to the hot oil and beeswax mixture so that the mixture does not splash on your skin and burn it. For this reason, do not allow young children to make lotion, and be sure that older children have adult supervision.
