Tsunamis are common occurrences they can happen at any time especially if an earthquake occurs. It is important that a person is able recognize signs of a pending tsunami and should seek cover immediately.

  2. Step 2

First, if an earthquake occurs in a region prone to tsunamis that should signal a person to be on their guard. In addition, if you happen to be on the beach or near water there a few things that you need to take notice. If you notice that the ocean seems to recede away from the beach and becomes murky this is a clear sign that a tsunami is only minutes away.

  3. Step 3

To best place to take cover is by relocating to higher ground. Do not try to take cover in a one story home or bungalow. Saving your life means keeping the rushing water at bay and there is only one way to do so.

  4. Step 4

Remember, a tsunami is not made up of just one wave but a series of waves over a period of hours. Stay safe and always be cautious!
