Dried flowers are great to have around during the winter months. They add color to a dark room and can also be used for creating floral craft projects. Harvest the statice flowers that grow in your own garden, or buy them in bundles at the farmer's market so that you have plenty on hand.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Select statice flowers that are fully opened.

  2. Step 2

Cut the stems at least 12 to 18 inches from the base of the flower.

  3. Step 3

Remove any leaves from the stems.

  4. Step 4

Place the prepared statice into a deep vase filled with clear, fresh water. The stems should be submerged at least halfway.

  5. Step 5

Place the vase in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. You can enjoy the flowers during the drying process.

  6. Step 6

Allow all of the water to evaporate naturally from the vase. Once the water is completely gone, your statice should be dry and ready to use for floral decorations or craft projects.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dried statice flowers will last practically forever. Help them last even longer by spraying them with extra-firm-hold hair spray after they have dried completely.
