How to Get Pregnant With a 38-Day Menstrual Cycle
You must be ovulating in order to conceive. Predicting ovulation can sometimes be a bit tricky due to abnormal cycles. The average menstrual cycle lasts about 28 days. If your cycle is 38 days instead of 28, you still can get pregnant. You can even use the same prediction techniques as a woman with an average cycle; you just have to adjust some of the figures in your prediction process.

1
Note the first day of your last period. Count forward 38 days to find out when you should start your next period. Once you find the estimated start of your next period, count backwards by 14 to find out approximately when you should be ovulating.
-
2
Note your cervical mucus. When you are ovulating, you should have a vaginal discharge that is clear and stretchy, much like a raw egg white.

3
Pay attention to your body. Many women feel pelvic discomfort on one side or the other when they are ovulating.

4
Monitor your body temperature with a basal body temperature thermometer. These thermometers measure body temperature more accurately and in greater detail than regular themometers. If you notice a temperature spike of 0.5 to 1.6 degrees, you may have just finished ovulating. If it's close to your estimated day of ovulation and you haven't had a spike yet, you may not have ovulated or you may be currently ovulating.
-
5
Use an ovulation predictor kit. You can find these products at your local pharmacy. They measure hormone levels to indicate whether or not you are ovulating.
-
6
Engage in sexual intercourse. If you watch your cycles over a period of time and can figure out a consistent pattern for ovulation, the best method is to have sex one time per day for four to five days leading up to ovulation. Even if you can't pinpoint ovulation, a good general rule is to have sex two to three times a week every week in order to increase your chances of having intercourse during the time you're ovulating.
