How to Use a Router to Bridge Two Networks
A router can connect two network segments together without the user having to create IP subnets. When a router is used to perform this task, it is referred to as a "bridge'. Configuration for a bridge is a different process than when the device is used as a router.

Open your Internet browser, then type in the IP address of the router. The default IP address can be found in the router's user manual. It might be 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254 or a similar address.

Navigate to the page in the web access interface that has the field for the router's IP address. Change the IP address to something other than the default. This address must not be the same as any other device on the network. Save changes before navigating away from this page.

Navigate to the page in the web access interface that has the settings for DHCP and DNS. Disable both of these functions. Save changes before navigating away from this page.

Navigate to the page in the web access interface which has the port forwarding settings. Disable these functions. Save your changes.

Navigate to the page in the web access interface that has the firewall and access controls settings. Disable these functions. Save the changes.

Reboot the router for all changes to take effect.
