To buy appliances for less money than someone else may pay, make phone calls. Start with some larger stores, such as Lowe's Home Improvement and Home Depot. Speak to any sales person about appliances that may be on the property, but not on the sales floor. Express your desire to save, and that you can overlook a little dent, or a missing knob that can be ordered later. Don't limit your calls to larger stores only. Call every store you know sells appliances.

You may be able to buy new appliances for less by dealing with a builder. Some builders buy in large lots, and are now stuck with extra product they don't need. Making a few calls might save you hundreds of dollars. Do it!

If you want to buy new appliances for less money, leave your card with the sales person or sales manager in any store you visit. Funny how sometimes something just seems to appear when a sales person knows you are serious.

Be polite, and persuasive. Ask for tips on who you need to know in their store. When they see you, they may not know who you are, but they will remember you as a nice person.
