How to Backup Firefox Add-ons

Save

Firefox allows you to enhance your browsing experience through many different means, including add-ons. But if your Firefox profile becomes corrupted, those add-ons could disappear. The good news is that it's possible to backup your Firefox add-ons.

  • Navigate to the Firefox FEBE add-on Web page (addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/febe/).

  • Click the "Add to Firefox" button.

  • When prompted, click the "Install Now" button. Firefox completes the installation.

  • Restart Firefox. Read the Readme file that FEBE subsequently displays.

  • Configure where you want Firefox to backup your add-ons. To do so, go to the "Tools" menu in Firefox and select "FEBE" and "FEBE Options" from the drop-down menu. The FEBE Options dialog appears.

  • Click on the "Where to backup" button. Then click the "Browse..." button and select the folder that you want to use to backup your Firefox add-ons. To create a new folder, click "Make New Folder." When done, click "OK." Then click "OK" in the FEBE Options dialog.

  • To perform a manual backup, go to the "Tools" menu in Firefox and select "FEBE" and "Perform Backup" from the drop-down menu.

  • Schedule a backup by navigating to the "Tools" menu in Firefox and selecting "FEBE" and "FEBE Options" from the drop-down menu. The FEBE Options dialog appears. Click the "When to backup" button. You can backup on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Click the appropriate radio button next to the desired option and set a schedule time. When done, click "OK."

  • To restore your backups, go to the "Tools" menu in Firefox and select "FEBE" and "Restore" and "Restore Extensions" from the drop-down menu. Browse for the extension that you want to restore, select it and click "Open."
