How to Make a Flowchart in Word 2007
Making a flowchart in Microsoft Word used to be a painful process that included drawing text boxes, arranging them and then drawing connectors to link them together. But Word 2007 has made this task so much easier by making the process completely automatic. Now, all you have to do is click a few icons, and a sleek flowchart will appear in your Word document. And, with a few more clicks, you can customize the color, layout and style.

Choose "SmartArt" in the "Illustrations" section of the "Insert" tab. A box called "Choose a SmartArt Graphic" will open.

Choose a type of flowchart. Click on one of the types on the left side of the box.

Pick a flowchart style from the options on the right side of the box. Double-click on one of the styles, and the flowchart will be placed right in the Word document.

Type text into the flowchart's boxes. Click on the word "Text" that appears in each box and start typing.

Place more boxes into the flowchart if needed. To do this, click on a box either before or after where you want to add a new one. Click on "Add Shape" in the "Create Graphic" section of the "Design" tab and use one of the options to insert a shape where it is needed.

Take out boxes that are not needed. Click on the shape and press "Delete" on the keyboard.

Modify the flowchart's color, layout, design or shape. The many tools in the "Design" and "Format" tabs allow you do customize the flowchart exactly as you need it.
