The spiral hair weave method is mostly used when getting a full-head weave. The hair styles that are best with this method include bobs (haircut styles), bangs and Afros. This method takes about two hours.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hair weave
  • Thick sewing or hair weave thread (same color as the weave)
  • Large blunt-end sewing or hair weave needle
  • Mirror
  • Scissors
  • Small piece of hair extension
  • Tail comb
  • Hair clips or bobby pins
  1. Step 1

Start parting the hair from your nape. Use the tail comb to part the hair in a spiral circle around the scalp that ends in the middle of the scalp. Use a mirror and use pins or a clip to keep hair in place.

  2. Step 2

Take a small piece of the hair extension and use it to cornrow (see reference below for how to cornrow) the hair into the spiral pattern you just parted. Make sure the braid is quite firm.

  3. Step 3

Thread the needle with a long piece of thread and double the thread. Tie a knot and cut off loose ends.

  4. Step 4

Lay the weave flat and cut it into 6-inch sections, along the base of the weave. This will make it easier to sew onto the cornrow.

  5. Step 5

Take each piece of the weave and sew it, flat side down, along the spiral cornrow. Use a cross-stitch for the best results. Tie off loose thread ends with secure double or surgeon knots. The last piece will be in the center. Once the weave is sewn, neatly sew the middle together to close up the hole.

  6. Step 6

Comb the weave to straighten out stray hairs. Cut any loose pieces of thread. Style as desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • It helps to have two or more needles if time is of the essence. Tie off each section of the weave securely and cut the loose thread at the end of knots. The mirror is essential.
  • Use caution with needles and scissors. Do not cornrow the hair too tight, since it can damage the scalp
