How to Remove Ssvichosst.exe

The removal of computer worms is usually a frustrating process for many PC owners, because they are so difficult to remove. Deleting affected folders and files isn't enough, and how the worm is approached is key in its removal.       Reboot your computer by going to "Start > Shutdown > Restart."

      Boot your computer into Safe Mode by pressing the "F8" button a few times on the screen that precedes the Windows boot-up screen. This will pull up a "Boot Manager" menu. Select "Safe Mode" from the menu and press "Enter."

      Log on as yourself in Safe Mode. If your account does not have administrative privileges, then you'll need to log on to the main administrative account. You'll need these privileges to effectively remove the worm.

      Go to "My Computer" by double-clicking the "My Computer" icon on your Desktop. Then double-click the "C:\" drive icon.

      Search for "ssvichosst.exe" by typing in "ssvichosst", minus the quotes, into the search box in the top right of the folder.

      Delete all found instances of "ssvichosst.exe" by selecting the found files and pressing the "Delete" key.

      Go to "Start > Accessories > Run." Type in "regedit", minus the quotes, and click "OK." This will pull up the Registry Editor.

      Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
      "@"=[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" within Registry Editor. Select "Yahoo Messengger," right-click and select "Delete."

      Right-click the "Recycle Bin" icon on the Desktop and select "Empty the Recycle Bin." Reboot the computer by going to "Start > Shutdown > Restart," and ssvichosst.exe will be removed from the computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't delete any of the other registry entries. All other registry entries, with the exception of the fake one added by ssvichosst, are essential to the stable running of Windows, so don't touch them or else it could corrupt your system.
