How to Use a Comdial Phone

Comdial telephone systems are the standard phone systems in many enterprise environments. These plain, black phones feature a multitude of buttons designed to streamline the telephone communication process with co-workers and contracts outside of the organization. Despite their somewhat intimidating appearance, Comdial phones are surprisingly easy to use after you become familiar with their basic functions.

Instructions

1. Answer a call by lifting the handset. Alternately, answer a call with the speakerphone by pressing the flashing red line button and speaking without the handset. Ensure you are close enough to the phone to clearly transmit your voice to the caller.

2. Make a call by pressing a line button and waiting for the dial tone. Dial the number after you hear the dial tone. Redial a number (the last dialed number) by hanging up or pressing the "Speaker" button to disconnect and then pressing "*" to redial.

3. Place a call on hold by pressing the "Hold" button. Answer a call that is on hold by pressing the flashing line button or pressing "Tap."

4. Transfer a call to another extension by pressing "TRNS/CNF", dialing the extension number, and hanging up (you can announce the call before you hang up, if you wish).

5. Initiate a conference call by making the first call, pressing "TRNS/CNF", making the next call, then pressing TRNS/CNF. Repeat this process until all callers are present on the call.
