How to Play Wii Sports

The Nintendo Wii video game console allows players to stand, sit, lie down and jump around while playing games. "Wii Sports" is a game included in a Wii bundle, and it's one of the most popular of the Wii games. Using the innovative Wii remote, you can play tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing games that are very similar to the actual sports.

Instructions

  1. Wii Tennis

    • 1

Strap on your Wii remote and serve the ball. Raise your arm to toss the ball in the air and bring it back down quickly to serve. Pressing the "A" button will also throw the ball up to serve.

    • 2

Compete with a live or a computer-generated opponent in either a singles or a doubles match.

    • 3

Swing the Wii remote to your left or right to hit the ball when your opponent returns it to you. The game will move your character in front of the ball, so you just need to hit it.

    Wii Baseball

    • 4

Play your position. If you are the home team, you will be pitching first. Pull your arm back and throw as if you were pitching an actual ball.

    • 5

Hit the ball when it's your turn to bat. Stand the way you would when playing baseball and swing the Wii remote when the ball approaches. Timing is important here; you can strike out just as easily in the "Wii Sports" game as you can in real baseball.

    • 6

Alternate between pitching and hitting for three innings.

    Wii Bowling

    • 7

Determine where you would like to throw the ball, and move your character to the left or right accordingly.

    • 8

Hold down the "B" button as you swing back, then bring your arm forward and release the button when you would like to release the bowling ball. Turning your hand to the left or right as you're throwing will make the ball curve after it has been released.

    • 9

Press the "A" button when you see your score on the screen to remove it and continue with your next bowl.

    Wii Golf

    • 10

Stand as you would when playing a real golf game and take a practice swing. As long as you're not holding down any buttons, you can take as many practice swings as you like.

    • 11

Use the arrows of your Wii remote to adjust for wind speed, distance and the angle at which you wish to hit the ball before you swing.

    • 12

Hold down the "A" button and swing to hit the golf ball.

    Wii Boxing

    • 13

Plug your Nunchuk attachment into the base of the Wii remote. Hold one part of the controller in each hand.

    • 14

Throw punches toward your opponent using both hands. No buttons need to be pushed.

    • 15

Block your opponent's punches by holding both hands in front of your face or torso.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always tighten the safety strap on the Wii remote snugly around your wrist.
