How to Soften a Leather Jacket
Striking and practical, a leather jacket makes a statement. Leather begins as the skin of an animal, so it shares many of the properties of human skin. Just as lotion softens your dry skin, leather conditioner keeps a leather jacket supple and smooth. Clean and condition your leather jacket at least two or three times a year to help it last for many years. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Brush dust and dirt off the jacket with a dry microfiber cloth. Pay attention to tight areas, such as under the arm holes. Particles on the surface of the leather can scratch it while you clean.
-
2
Dampen a clean cloth slightly and dip it into the leather cleaner. Rub the cloth over a section of the jacket to work the cleaner into a lather.
-
-
3
Dampen another cleaning cloth and wipe the soap away immediately, before it has a chance to dry on the surface of the jacket.
-
4
Lather and wipe each small section of the jacket until the entire garment is clean.
-
5
Spray a small amount of leather conditioner on one section of the jacket, or dip a damp microfiber cloth into the conditioner.
-
6
Wipe the jacket down with the damp cloth to spread the conditioner around and work it into the hide. Hang the jacket on a sturdy hanger and wait for about five minutes.

Wipe the entire jacket with a dry microfiber cloth.
