Spiders can be annoying and some varieties are even deadly. If you see a large number of spiders around your home it’s best to get rid of them quickly. Rather than trying to exterminate or kill every single spider (although it might be some great exercise), it’s best to deter them from your home. Here are a few simple steps you can take to get rid of those spiders once and for all.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Perhaps the best thing you can do is to turn off outside lights at night. House Lights attract insects and insects attract spiders. In short, if you leave your lights on, you will attract spiders to eat the insects. The best move is to decrease the amount of time you leave your outside lights on.

  2. Step 2

It’s also important to keep any food you have put away and sealed. Cockroaches and ants will look for crumbs or food, and spiders won’t be far behind. Keep food off the floor whenever possible, and sweep or vacuum the floor often. Don't store food in your clothing either. The last thing you want is a nice suprise in your shirt pocket.

  3. Step 3

Look for and find any cracks there might be in your house. Cracks in the walls or at the bottom floor are a great way for spiders to get into your house. You can patch these cracks with a little bit of putty.

  4. Step 4

Search through your house and get rid of any clutter lying around. Spider’s like to hide in dark damp places (a garage environment is perfect). Keep your house clean and free of clutter to reduce the number of places spiders can hide.

  5. Step 5

If these methods aren’t working for you, you can also try using natural spider repellents. You can find most at your local store, but spiders seem to turn and run at the sight of Eucalyptus.
