Fitting exercise into your daily routine can be a challenge especially if it requires leaving the comforts of home. This article will describe how to get exercise at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    GET SOME STEPS IN.

Walking is one of the simplest ways to get exercise if you are physically able to do so. If you have a long hallway (or a short one), consider walking back and forth for 5 to 10 minutes every now and then. Do this a few times per day and you could easily be up to 30 minutes per day (exercise doesn't have to be continous to promote benefit). Also, for a more vigorous workout, walk up and down stairs if you have them.

  2. Step 2

    DO SOME HOUSEWORK.

My definition, exercise is planned physical activity. This means that anything that requires physical effort is a form of exercise. Think about household chores that you can do at home to get more exercise. Vacuuming is a great way to get those muscles moving. If you think vacuuming is great, try sweeping!

  3. Step 3

    PLAY WITH KIDS.

If you have kids around your house, especially toddlers, spend a little time in their world and you'll definitely get some exercise. Take them to the park or for walks. Have a little dance contest. You'll be burning calories before you know it. While you're at it, teach the little ones the importance of exercise. Before you know it, they'll be telling you that you need to exercise!

  4. Step 4

    DUST OFF THE WORKOUT VIDEOS/DVDS.

Work out videos or dvds are not for everyone. However, if you have some old ways that you could tolerate every once and a while, try them. You could just do them every now and then in combination with other at home exercise-just to liven up the routine. Remember Tybo? (you're probably burning calories right now just thinking about it). It was all the rage a few years back and was a great workout that you could do in the confines of your own home. Of course, there are less vigorous workout videos/dvds that you could use as well (i.e. Walk Away the Pounds).
