How to Make Coin Banks
Piggy banks or coin banks are a great way to save spare change and accessorize your home at the same time. But why settle for a boring store-bought one when you can make a coin bank from just about anything that's hollow? Here's how.

1
Choose a bank body. Just about anything can be made into a coin bank, but keep in mind what tools you have to work with. If you have a drill or glass cutters, you can make a metal box or a wine bottle into a bank. If you only have basic home utensils, you'll need to stick with plastic items or other soft materials.

2
Empty it out if it's not already empty. If it was something with liquid or food in it, be sure to clean it, too.

3
Cut your coin slot. This will depend on what the material is, but you can use a pen knife, a screw driver with a hammer, a drill, glass cutters, or other suitable tool.
-
4
Using the same tool you used in the last step, put a hole in the bottom of the object. You may want to put in multiple holes if it is something with legs, such as a child's toy. Make the holes significantly wider than a quarter to make it easy to remove change.

5
Put a cork in it...no, really. Place a cork stopper in the hole you just cut to stop change from escaping until you want to get it out.
