It's time to look after your pet Guinea Pig!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Guinea Pig hutch
  • Correct food
  • Bedding (newspaper and correct sawdust)
  • Food bowl
  • Water holder
  • Cardboard box
  1. Step 1

When selecting a Guinea Pig, make sure there are no signs of a pregnant piggie and be careful of extra-sharp nails. Check for the shiniest coat and the most active piggie. Try to stay clear of any piggies that look as though they are sick, or spend their time in the corner.

Make SURE you have your piggie's hutch set up BEFORE you get your piggy. Have the food put into a decent, hollow bowl that will NOT get knocked over easily. Attach the water bottle, making sure the piggy can reach it.

  2. Step 2

When you have your piggie, make sure they are in a nice, cardboard box with plenty of airholes. Feel free to hold it in the car, but they may poo from anxiety. Once at home, leave them for ten minutes or so to settle into their new homes. After TWENTY minutes, the person whose guinea pig it is, is welcome to play with them for awhile.

Keep your guinea pig + hutch in a place where the temperature stays the same for the most of the day. (If you are keeping your piggy in your room, make sure if it is a cold day the windows are closed, and that the room is hte same heat as the usual temp.)

  3. Step 3

Piggies eat their food fairly quickly depending on the piggy, so don't be surprised if the good is gone in a day. Always add fresh food and water AFTER throwing out the OLD water and food.

  4. Step 4

Have FUN training and playing with your new Piggy! :)

Tips & Warnings
  • Always be 110% dedicated to your pet. They're for life, not for Christmas.
  • Some piggies may need longer to adjust and might get vicious if provoked. KEEP THIS IN MIND!
