How to Connect Linksys Wireless Routers
A wireless router provides a way to set up your own home network for several Internet-ready devices while saving you a bundle of money. All you need is a live Internet connection, and once you plug it into the router, the router will send a wireless signal throughout your home, allowing your wireless-capable devices to connect to the Internet.
Instructions

-
1
Plug the router into an electrical outlet to give the router power.
-
2
Plug an Ethernet cable into the back of your cable modem (or the source of your Internet connection).
-
-
3
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the WAN (Wireless Area Network), WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) or Internet port found on the back of the router. (A Local Area Network is created by plugging in other devices into a router via Ethernet cables, and most wireless routers, including Linksys routers, have approximately four ports for you to establish a LAN. The only difference is the router also transmits a wireless signal, too--making it a WLAN.)
-
4
Check the lights on the front of the router. Linksys uses a light--or a series of lights--that correspond with each port on the back of the router. If there is an Internet connection and it is properly plugged in, the Internet light should be lit. There should also be a WLAN light on the front that is lit, showing that you have a wireless signal being transmitted from the router.
-
5
Test the wireless signal by trying to make a connection to the Internet using any of your wireless devices.

Tips & Warnings
If you have trouble finding a wireless signal, continue to check the lights on the front of the router to make sure they are lit. Also check that all necessary cables are plugged in. Check your security settings on your wireless devices, including any firewalls, to allow the device to recognize the new router.
