Starting out as a novice article contributor over the world wide web, I had initially written some interesting poems and articles for websites. Unfortunately these articles are lost forever and I am not able to retrieve them. The simple reason being that I was unaware of the very fact of submitting my articles URL to search optimization engines like Yahoo and Google. So if you are an enthusiast like me, seeking to attract a larger audience for your work, have a quick read of some tips to follow:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Personal Laptop or Desktop
  • Determination
  • Ample of time for registering
  • An Iron Will
  1. Step 1

GOOGLE and YAHOO search Engines: Add your article or content URL to Google and Yahoo search options primarily and later search for more search optimization engines while not forgetting to insert relevant tags linking to your work. Some other, not so common search engines include Lycos, Web Crawler, About etc..

  2. Step 2

Networking Sites: Another way to gain exposure for your work is by registering on famous networking sites like facebook, digg or bebo. Upon registration, you will be given your very own web page. If you save your web page to favourites, you can quickly open the site and link back to your articles for reviews, comments and feedback by friends and other network users. Try to participate in the Networking forums, this gives you more exposure to your articles and ideas for sharing other peoples views too. Here is a list: AIM
    Google Bookmarks
    Reddit
    Ask
    Kaboodle
    Segnalo
    Backflip
    kIRTSY
    Simpy
    BallHype
    Link-a-Gogo
    Slashdot
    Bebo
    LinkedIn
    Spurl
    Blogger
    Live
    StumbleUpon
    Blogmarks
    Mister Wong
    Technorati
    Delicious
    Mixx
    Tumblr
    Digg
    Multiply
    Twitter
    Diigo
    myAOL
    TypePad
    Facebook
    MySpace
    WordPress
    Fark
    Netvibes
    Yahoo Bookmarks
    Faves
    Netvouz
    Yahoo Buzz
    Favorites
    Newsvine
    Yardbarker
    FriendFeed
    Propeller

  3. Step 3

Emails: You should compile a list of emails of known people or send group emails of your articles. If people open your message, they will be redirected to the original content and if some ignore your content, they are yet others who will read, review or comment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not stop trying to reach a wider audience. This is all the information, I have learnt so far but since I am always looking out for better and easier ways of exposing my articles on the world wide web, I will continue updating you, but till next time, happy writing.
  • RSS Feeds- Avoid RSS Feeds from all networking sites, although they provide quick updates, they can also leave a whole lot of mess on your task bars.
  • SPAM and Illicit Messages- Always notify the Networking sites administrator if you are a victim of spam, they in turn will block the sender or send him a warning email.
  • Do not be afraid to allow all network user to access, comment or provide feedback to your articles. It is better to let everybody notice, instead of only your network of friends.
