How to Remove the Realsched.exe From Startup

Realsched.exe is a process that handles automatic updates and update notifications for software from RealNetwork, including RealPlayer. This process is set by default to start when your computer does so it can check for updates and notify you. However, it can be removed from the list of programs that start up with Windows.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "Run" dialog box by opening your "Start" menu and then clicking on "Run."

    • 2

Type "msconfig" without the quotes into the text box, then click on the "OK" button. This will open the System Configuration Utility.

    • 3

Switch to the "Startup" tab. Scroll down until you see "Realsched" and uncheck the box next to it. Click the "OK" button to save your settings and close the window.

    • 4

Click on "Exit without Restarting" to have the new setting take effect the next time you restart your computer, or click on "Restart" to restart your computer immediately.

    • 5

Check the box to not have Windows notify you that you made changes through System Configuration Utility and automatically start when the pop-up appears the next time you restart your computer. It will automatically start the System Configuration Utility the first time; just exit without making changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not make changes through the System Configuration Utility if you do not know what a process does.
