Things You'll Need:
- Friends or Family
- Journal
- Good Physician
- Resources related to your condition

Step 1
When you are classified as a high risk pregnancy make sure that you are comfortable with your physician / health care provider. It is crucial that you trust them and feel like they are truly concerned about your well being as well as the health of your baby. Pregnancy causes emotional changes as well as physical ones and it is important that you have their complete support throughout the duration of your pregnancy.

Step 2
Do your research, your health and your baby's livelihood could depend on it. Go to the library or search online for articles related to your condition. Request information from your health care provider. Educate yourself so that you don't feel overwhelmed by the intensity of your prenatal visits and any tests that may need to be performed until your child is born. Learn how the condition could affect the baby after birth and any precautions that you will need to take while caring for them.
-
Step 3
Locate a good support group if you don't have family or friends nearby. Stay in contact with loved ones who are supportive and compassionate. No matter how strong you are, there will come a time when you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to vent frustrations to. Be completely honest and up front about your fears and concerns related to your pregnancy, that is the only way that people can help you through the hard days. Churches and local parenting networks can provide additional support.
-
Step 4
Keep a pregnancy journal. Sometimes it's hard to read normal pregnancy books because they are usually geared to women with healthy pregnancies. By writing down your feelings and your experiences in a journal you can be completely open and honest. Sometimes it is difficult to express ourselves to others and ask for support, but it is very healthy to write down our feelings. It can be very beneficial to re-read your own journal entries because you are able to process your emotions more effectively. It is important to not only journal the difficult times during your pregnancy but also the wonderful times. Reading your entries will remind you that there are always good days, and becoming a parent is a beautiful journey although sometimes daunting.
-
Step 5
Continue to plan and prepare for the birth of your child. Do your best to continue to get ready for baby. Try as hard as you can to keep from getting depressed, although that can happen if you are placed on bed rest. Enlist the help of your support group if you are physically unable to handle the preparations, but most importantly stay positive; keeping a positive outlook will benefit both you and your baby.
