Things You'll Need:
- A decorative teacup, with saucer
- previously burned candles
- 2 pots, one small, one larger
- wick kit
-
Step 1
Start with collecting burned candles from around your home. These will be used as the wax for your teacup candle.
Using a knife, remove the wick and metal base from the candles that you wish to use, so that only the wax remains. -
Step 2
Prepare your teacup to be filled by placing the wick clip at the bottom, and tie the wick to a toothpick or skewer to keep it upright inside the teacup.
-
Step 3
Using the pots, place the smaller pot inside the larger pot. Fill the larger pot with water so that smaller pot is surrounded by water, but not filled with water. It is best if the smaller pot is suspended in the water and the bottom of it is not resting in the bottom of the larger pot.
Bring the water to a boil, and reduce the heat to medium-low. -
Step 4
Break apart pieces of the candle wax and slowly add them to the smaller pot. Allow them to melt slowly until it has reached a liquid form.
-
Step 5
Remove the smaller pan from the larger, and use a measuring cup to slowly pour the hot wax into the teacup. Be sure to pour around the wick, not directly over it.
-
Step 6
Allow the wax to cool, and cut the wick to 1/4 inch above the wax surface.

on 6/14/2009 I was also wondering about fragile cups, but would love to try these. I am having a dress up tea party for children and these would be a pretty decorative addition.

on 6/9/2009 Some tea cups are very fragile, will the heat from the candle and wick crack the tea cup?
