If you've been reading about all the negative side effects of soda pop and cola, and wondering how to cut back, you're not alone. Follow the steps below to help make giving up soda pop a little easier.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water, flavor packets, juice, tea, etc.
  1. Step 1

One of the most popular complaints about water is how boring and flat it is. However, this is a poor excuse not to drink it. Although plain water is best for you, it's easy to add flavor to jump start your goals on giving up the soda pop. Pepsi, coca cola, sprite, and other soda's do not come in little flavor packets, but a whole range of other brands and flavors are available. They offer juice, teas, vitamin enriched, low calorie, no sugar, and many more options. They come in packets or large containers to suit your needs, and are reasonably priced. Add to water, and bam, you have yourself a great tasting and healthy drink. Plus, they come in so many flavors, you'll never get bored!

  2. Step 2

Sometimes it's not just the flavor that draws you to the soda, but also the carbonation. If this is the case for you, I recommend purchasing carbonated water (also available in multiple flavors.)

  3. Step 3

Avoid feeling deprived! Don't limit yourself to just water, keep 100% fruit juices, smoothies, tea and other good-for-you drinks available.

Tips & Warnings
  • If possible, avoid keeping soda pop in your home. It will keep temptation out of your house.
  • Keep bottles of water with you, you're far less likely to stop for a coke while out if you have water with you at all times.
  • There are often withdrawal symptoms, such as tiredness, when eliminating soda for your diet...however, if you experience any severe symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
