By Kindergarten, kids are expected to have their home phone number memorized. It is also a good idea for emergency situations that they do know their own number. Teach your kids their numbers and have fun doing it!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Construction paper or card stock
  • Button candy (optional)
  • Glue
  • Marker
  • Play phones
  1. Step 1

Begin by telling them what the phone number is, whether it is your home phone, cell phone or both. Have them repeat it back to you several times and quiz them on it. Write it down on a piece of paper and hang it somewhere they will see it often.

  2. Step 2

To make a phone, cut a rectangle and fold it in half. For fun, add an antenna and candy buttons to replicate your phone. Let the kids write the number on the phone. See resource section for a link to further directions and pictures. Having them both say the number and writing it will help in memorizing it.

  3. Step 3

Let the kids use your old phone to practice calling their phone number. If you want, tape the phone number on the phone for them to better memorize their number.

Tips & Warnings
  • The earlier you teach them their phone number, the better
  • Instead of using candy buttons, draw numbers on the phone
