How to Strip Paint From Your Car
Don't mess with all that tough and messy sanding - strip auto paint off with a chemical stripper in less than an hour.
Things You'll Need
- Body Panel Stands
- Garden Hoses
- Paint Strippers
- Plastic Drop Cloths
- Plastic Putty Knives
- Sandpaper
Instructions
-
-
1
Purchase a chemical paint stripper.
-
2
Read the directions carefully and heed all warnings and cautions.
-
-
3
Remove the body panel if possible and put it on a stand.
-
4
Apply the stripper liberally with a brush.
-
5
Cover the area with clear plastic. The plastic keeps the fumes in and causes the stripper to work quicker.
-
6
Wait about 20 minutes (this may vary according to the brand of stripper).
-
7
Remove the plastic and scrape the paint off with a plastic paint scraper or putty knife.
-
8
Rinse the panel with cool water to neutralize the stripper.
-
9
Sand or re-strip.
