Inserting symbols in your AIM instant messages is fun and easy. Symbols can used for emphasis, to demonstrate emotions or just for fun. Making the symbols is simple; all you need is your computer keyboard.

Hold the Alt key and type the number 1 using the keyboard's numeric pad to create a smiley face (☺). Release the Alt key, and the symbol will appear in the AIM message.

Hold the Alt key and type the number 3 using the keyboard's numeric pad to create a heart (♥). Release the Alt key; the symbol will appear in the AIM message.
