1
Shampoo and condition your hair as you normally do. Use a moisturizing or hydrating shampoo. Condition your hair for 30 minutes, and then rinse out. This helps your style to come out soft and with lots of body. If your hair is dry, skip the shampooing step and just condition to avoid flyaways. Seal your hair with a natural oil, if necessary.

Use either dry or wet hair. Wet hair requires careful and gentle handling as your hair breaks more easily when it's wet. Divide the hair in sections and braid each section. If you want a more wavy look, plan larger braids. If you want a fluffier look, plan smaller braids.

Lightly spritz your entire head using either water or setting lotion once your entire head is complete. This helps your style set better. Either sit under a hooded dryer and let your hair dry completely, or sleep with the braids overnight.

Unravel each braid once your hair is dry. Try not to use a comb. Unravel each braid with your fingers and use the end of a rat tail comb to pick out the curls until you get the look you want. Either spray hair with oil sheen or toss it with some hair serum to add shine.
