How to Create Your Own First Communion Invitations
A First Communion is a special religious event in a child's life, the first reception of the sacrament mainly in Catholic and Protestant religions. Family and friends gather together to celebrate the event. Create First Communion invitations in the form of large 5- by 7-inch postcards with color schemes for a boy or girl.
Things You'll Need
- Heavy card stock (color as desired)
- White card stock
- Computer and printer
- Paper cutter
- Double-sided tape
- A7 Envelope (fits 5- by 7-inch card)

Design the First Communion invitation using a word-processing program like MS Word. Create a text box that is 4 inches by 5 1/2 inches. Choose a font that is 16 points and add the wording, centered within the text box. The invitation should include:
Name of parents
Invite you to the
First Communion of their (son or daughter)
Name of child
date and time
Church name
Address of church
Reception following the ceremony
Please RSVP by (date)
Phone number for RSVP -

Add a copyright-free image of a cross on the top left part of the invitation. You will find these images on Internet websites. (See invitation sample above.)

Print the invitation on white card stock. It is possible to print 6 to 8 invitations on the same sheet and cut them to size with a paper cutter. Make as many as you need.

Cut the colored card stock to 5- by 7 inches. It is possible to cut at least four (4) on one sheet. Suggested colors of heavy card stock are pink, blue, light green or pale yellow.

Attach double-sided tape to the back of the invitation printed on white card stock and press onto the colored card stock.

Insert each invitation into an A7 envelope, address and mail. Check with the post office for the correct amount of postage.

Tips & Warnings
The child celebrating his First Communion can help with this project.
An adult should handle the paper cutter if a child is participating in this project.
