How to Connect Wireless Internet to a PC Desktop
Most laptops come with wireless capabilities; PC desktops don't. To connect your PC desktop to wireless Internet involves opening your computer and installing a device that can access wireless Internet.

Power down your computer and disconnect it from the power source.

Remove any screws holding your computer case in place and open it. Touch the power supply to ground yourself.

Locate the PCI slot on your motherboard. It will look like a bar with a slit down the middle.

Remove the metal covering plate from the computer case that corresponds to that PCI slot.

Install the PCI adapter, but take off the antenna before doing so. If you cannot take off the antenna, point it straight out so you can install the adapter correctly. The adapter should fit snugly in the slot.

Reattach the computer case and screws. Plug the computer back in.

Install the network card driver, which should have come on a CD with the PCI adapter. Some systems will recognize the new device automatically. If yours isn't one of them, insert the CD into your computer's optical drive and follow the onscreen prompts. You should now be able to connect to wireless Internet from your PC desktop.

Remember to install nice and tight.
If the CD does not recognize the device, you may have not installed right.

Great info and steps on how to connect wireless internet to a PC desktop--I am so technically challenged--computers and computer operating systems are NOT my thing so this article about how to get your PC hooked up to the internet was GREAT for me!
