Social Networking has taken over the world, it seems. You are no one without a Twitter, Myspace or Facebook account. So how do you get your style and personality across with the plain pages they give you to start with? The hard part is figuring out what abilities you have on which sites.
Twitter and Myspace allow users to select their pre-made templates and backgrounds. For a more intricate design, a simple Google search of Myspace Backgrounds will return thousands of results. Many of the sites are perfectly acceptable, but the instructions can get convoluted and the sites insist on including glaring images and links back to them. Without a high degree of HTML knowledge, removing them is nearly impossible. Facebook allows minimal customization, mostly of the drag and drop variety, to move items around. Other sites offer varieties of the same items. -

Myspace --- Now that you have chosen to include a background, and customization, it's time to decide what you want. Search for keywords like ice cream Myspace layout or blue layout for Myspace. Choose the one that you like and copy the code as the site instructs. Now, sign into your Myspace account and go to Profile, then Edit Profile. Paste the code in the About Me section and click Save Changes. To view it, go to Profile and then My Profile. This is the view your friends see, not your view you'll see when you sign in.

For Twitter, sign into your account. Once there, go to Settings and click the last tab for Design. You have the ability to choose from pre-made themes, upload an image or change the colors. Both you and your friends will see this on the site.

Lastly, and most difficult, is Facebook. Facebook does not allow for much customization of your site because they considered that a drawback of Myspace. The sites take too much time to load thanks to large graphics and animation. You can, however, change some things. Sign into Facebook, and then click Profile. You can edit everything that appears with a gray bar with a pencil. First, you have the ability to click on it: holding the mouse, drag it down to a different area of the page and let it drop in. Second, by clicking on the pencil, you can edit the contents right there.

Tips & Warnings
Be careful when choosing a site for a pre-made Myspace layout. It's very easy to mistake ads for links and click in the wrong place.
