An adoption baby shower is an exciting and happy event that calls for specially created invitations. Like any other party celebrating the arrival of a new family addition, the theme is a baby and most people who know the parents know if it is a boy or a girl. This helps with colors schemes and paper patterns. The invitation states the purpose (an adoption party), date, time and place, who the hostess is and a telephone number to call to RSVP.

Things You'll Need

  • White card stock (8 1/2 x 11 inches)
  • Decorative paper
  • Child theme images (small)
  • Double sided tape
  • Scissors or paper cutter
  • Computer and printer
  • Envelope

Instructions

      Inside of invitation

Using the paper cutter or scissors, cut one sheet of card stock in half. Fold each half lengthwise and press the crease. This will make two blank invitation cards. For this project, the invitation will have the crease on top (see image in the introduction). Make as many blank invitation cards as needed for the adoption baby shower.

Create the invitation insert on the computer with the details to the baby shower. Use wording in a nice font so that, when it's printed and cut out, it will fit into the invitation card (4 inches wide, 3 inches high). Print out as many inserts as may be needed for the number of people being invited. About four inserts on one sheet of card stock can be created.

Choose a decorative paper on which to attach the invitation insert and cut it down to 4 x 5 inches. Attach it to the inside of the invitation card with double sided tape. Then attach the invitation insert on top of that with double sided tape (see illustration in Step 1). Press down.

Although there is no specific wording for an adoption baby shower that must be followed, here is a suggested one:

You are invited to celebrate the
      adoption of Jeremy Raymond
      Born January 2, 2008
      to John and Brenda Smith
      Saturday, March 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
      Hosted by Marion Loredes
      RSVP 123-4567

Attach a colorful child themed image cut to size to fit onto the front of the invitation card with double sided tape. Use variety of images. Wording on the front may be "An Adoption Party." Insert the card into an addressed envelope and mail.

Tips & Warnings

  • Child theme images are available for free in expired wallpaper sample books available at home decorator shops and home improvement stores. Check with the stores periodically and collect them when they become available for use in craft projects.
