What better place to have your honeymoon than at the Happiest Place on Earth? Here is how to get the most out of a honeymoon at Walt DisneyWorld.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your Spouse (of course!)
  • Disney Meal Plan
  1. Step 1

Book your honeymoon through Disney (online or over the phone). This will streamline the planning process for you and you will be able to customize almost every aspect of your honeymoon package, from getting a limo to pick you up from the airport, to your meal package and your park tickets, and of course your hotel. You can also try going through a travel agent, but speaking to a Disney Honeymoon Advisor will probably give you the same results.

  2. Step 2

Even though you can book your plane tickets through the Disney site, it is probably cheaper to buy your plane tickets through a travel search engine such as Travelocity, Priceline, Expedia, or Kayak. If you book your plane tickets through Disney or not, you can still arrange to be picked up at the airport by Disney and they will take you to your resort.

  3. Step 3

STAY AT A DISNEY RESORT! This will save you the cost of having to rent a car and then pay for gas as well. There are buses and monorails that run regularly and will take you from your hotel to any of the 4 Disney Parks, as well as to Downtown Disney. You can get to any place on Disney property without ever having to drive. Also, staying at a Disney Resort offers many other advantages:
    - Almost every resort has a view of one of the nightly fireworks shows held at each Disney park. And each resort also has a designated viewing area where you can get the best view of the fireworks
    - Extra Magic Hours! These are hours that only resort guests can take advantage of. Each park opens an hour early or stays open an hour later past regular park hours (Early Magic Hours vary by park and by day) and only resort guests are allowed at the parks during these extra hours, so lines will be much shorter!

  4. Step 4

You may not really think about it, but it's actually worth it. GET A DISNEY MEAL PLAN! Meal plans vary but they all work the same. Each meal plan gives you a certain amount of meal points and snack points. You can use these points at any Disney Park or Disney Resort to pay for your meals and snacks throughout the day. Snacks (such as ice cream treats, churros, pretzels, or a single drink) use only one point and you can find snack carts all throughout the parks. Meals use anywhere from one point to three points (depending on how fancy the restaurant is where you're eating), but each meal includes a drink, an entree, and a dessert option. And the best thing is, room service is only one meal point! You can get your meals at any restaurant in the parks or at any disney resort. With the meal plan, you can get all of your food without ever having to pull out your wallet! It's a great convenience

  5. Step 5

Get your park tickets with your honeymoon package. There are many different park ticket options, and what you should choose really depends on how long your stay will be. If you think you'll want to visit more than one park in one day, get the park hopper option with your park tickets. This will allow you to jump from park to park as many times as you want during a single day. If you like to take your time at each park, then get a 1 Park per day ticket. You can visit a different Disney park on each day of your honeymoon.

  6. Step 6

This may seem silly, but it really is something I highly suggest. When you check in to your hotel, you will each receive a button that says "Just Married" on it. WEAR IT! You'll get extra friendly service from all of the Disney Staff, and you'll get to meet a lot of fun people as you wait in line for rides, since there will be other people wearing different celebration pins throughout the parks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tip your maids and they will take extra good care of your room!
  • If you plan on eating at any of the nicer/fancier restaurants in the parks or at a resort, make your reservations ahead of time as many of these places are booked far in advance.
  • If your honeymoon package includes tickets to see the Cirque Du Soleil show La Nouba, make sure to call and make reservations for the showing that you would like to attend. My hubby and I didn't think we needed to make reservations, and our tickets ended up going to waste. Such a shame!
  • Get a PhotoPass at one of the Disney Parks at the start of your trip. You can get the PhotoPass from any Disney photographer at the parks. Then start having your photos taken all over the parks by Disney photographers. The PhotoPass keeps all of your photos taken by Disney photographers and you can edit them with fun Disney borders and order prints, photo gifts, or a cd with all of your images! This is a great way to have some fun photos of your honeymoon, with both of you in the picture!
