Maintaining your motorcycle is crucial to keep your bike on the road. With all the wear and moving parts in a motorcycle engine you should change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles. After you drain the oil from your bike, you want to make sure to install a new oil filter on your Honda motorcycle.

Things You'll Need:

  • Oil filter wrench Wrench set Oil
  1. Step 1

    Read the owner's manual for your motorcycle to determine the type of oil filter to purchase. Buy a new oil filter from a Honda motorcycle dealer or at your local auto store. If you are sitting on the bike, the oil filter is located on the bike engine near your left ankle.

  2. Step 2

    Slip the oil wrench on the oil filter. Tighten the band around the oil filter.

  3. Step 3

    Turn the wrench counterclockwise and unscrew the oil filter. Remove the oil filter.

  4. Step 4

    Rub oil around the gasket seal and bolt hole on the new oil filter.

  5. Step 5

    Screw the new oil filter on with your hand until it becomes hard to tighten.
