Instructions

    • 1

First, save up soap slivers as you use them, until you have a reasonable amount. A Tupperware container works well for this. If you use soaps that have VERY different scents, you might want to keep them separate.

    • 2

Once you have enough soap to make this worthwhile, dump the slivers onto the cutting board, and mince them with the chef's knife, until they are in very small pieces. Transfer these to the Pyrex container and add a small amount of water (enough to coat the bottom of the container).

    • 3

Cover the container with plastic wrap, and microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring in between with the butter knife, until the water is very hot, and the soap has formed a paste.

    • 4

Pour and scoop the soap paste into the cupcake wrappers, and allow to cool. Once this is done, you'll have new bars of soap!

Tips & Warnings

  • Other ways to reuse soap slivers can be to attempt to fuse them to another bar of soap (I haven't had much luck with them), or to put them in a nylon stocking, and use that for washing.

  • If you find that you enjoy this, look into the craft and hobby of soapmaking which can be a great outlet for creativity.

  • Be careful during the microwaving step, so that the soap mixture doesn't boil over.
