Scarves are the perfect crochet project in the winter months. They are easy to make and quick to complete. An eyelash scarf that you can wear with a holiday coat, blouse, or sweater is a great way to showcase your crochet handiwork. Best of all? This scarf can be completed in approximately two nights.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Crochet Hook Size H/8
  • 2 skeins eyelash yarn in any color (1.75 ounces each) Stitches used:
  • dc = double crochet
  • ch = chain stitch
  1. Step 1

Chain 15. This is the base of the scarf.

  2. Step 2

Row 1: In the third chain stitch from the hook, insert hook and make a dc. *ch 1. Skip one stitch and dc into next stitch. Repeat from* to the end of the row. ch 2, and turn.

  3. Step 3

Rows 2 - end: *dc in the first stitch from hook. ch 1. Skip next stitch. Repeat from* to end of row. Ch 2, turn. Repeat this row until scarf reaches 76 inches in length or the length you desire. Feel free to adjust length to your preference.

  4. Step 4

Final row: End off by snipping your yarn two inches from the last stitch you crocheted. Yarn over, and pull through the entire length of the yarn you just cut. Pull tight. Weave this two inch piece of yarn through one row of your scarf.

Congratulations! You just completed a dressy eyelash scarf!

Tips & Warnings
  • Eyelash yarn is a thin, almost threadlike, material. Strands of yarn peek out of the main base, giving the main strand an "eyelash-like" appearance. When used in a crocheting project, the strands of yarn give texture to what would otherwise be a flat piece of handiwork. Projects generally made with eyelash yarn are smaller and quick to finish. The "eyelash" strands make the yarn very forgiving to work with and the perfect material to use for a beginning crocheter. However, crochet enthusiasts of all levels enjoy working with this unique material. The increased interest in eyelash yarn has made it an easy to find material, available at most craft and even dollar stores. Skeins generally range anywhere from $1 - $4, depending on the retail location.
