Fold an Origami Tulip
Fold an Origami Tulip

This is a step by step guide with pictures to show you how to fold an origami tulip. Origami is "the traditional Japanese art of paper folding". There are many things you can make with paper!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • origami paper (one color for tulip, green color for stem)
  • tape or glue for stem
  1. Step 1

On the colored side, fold the paper in half going up, then unfold it. Now, fold the paper in half the other way (going left to right), and then unfold it.

  2. Step 2

Turn the paper around, so it's the blank side. Grab the edge and fold it in half, creating a triangle. Unfold it, and repeat it with the other side. You should now see fold lines on your paper.

  3. Step 3

Grab the sides, and fold it towards the bottom middle line, creating a triangle (picture on the right).

  4. Step 4

Grab the top layer of the left and right side and fold it towards the middle point.
    Flip the diagram and repeat.

  5. Step 5

Now, look at the diagram from the top view. Take the Right bottom flap and hold together with the bottom left flap. Do the same with the top part. It should look like the picture on the right.

  6. Step 6

Lay the diagram fat on table, then turn the diagram around (180 turn). Grab the right piece and join it with the left piece by placing it inside the left flap.

  7. Step 7

Flatten the center you've just created. Repeat on the opposite side.

  8. Step 8

Looking at the diagram from top view, you should see a hole. Blow gently into the hole, and your model should now look 'puffed up'

  9. Step 9

Turn the diagram around, and you will now gently tug the four petals down.

  10. Step 10

Use a green colored paper, and roll it up into a stem, you can use glue or tape to seal it. Stick it into the hole on the bottom.
