Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA). Made from sugar cane, it is a natural skin care product that acts as an defoliant as well as a moisturizer. Easy to make at home, you can use your homemade herbal glycolic acid as a facial peel or mask.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sugar (white) Avocado oil Fresh aloe vera Lemon juice Essential orange and lavender oils
  1. Step 1
     

    Blend 1/4 cup white cane sugar with enough avocado oil and aloe gel fresh from the plant to make a light paste. Squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon juice and 2 drops each of lavender and orange oils.

  2. Step 2
     

    Apply the glycolic acid to to face only immediately after blending it. Do not apply to any other area of your body, including the neck. Avoid contact with eyes.

  3. Step 3
     

    Leave on the face for 3 to 4 minutes and rinse with warm water. It can used as a daily softening scrub.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use organic products, if possible.
  • Test for an allergic reaction on small patch of skin first. Glycolic acid can make you sensitive to sun exposure.
