Measure for Swag Curtains

Swag curtains are typically made up of two pieces or a pair of curtains that hang on each side of a window frame. Each swag can be pulled back with a tie or held back with a curtain hook on the sides of the window. Swag curtains are often paired with blinds or shades and a pretty valance can be added in between the swags for more fullness. Measuring your window properly will ensure that you buy the correct size swag curtains. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the window in which you wish to hang swag curtains. Any size window will work. Choose a window with a pretty view such as in the kitchen, dining or living room. Keep in mind that swag curtains will allow plenty of light in.

    • 2

Measure the width across the window frame first. Place the end of the measuring tape on the outside left edge of the window frame. Measure across to the outside edge of the right side of the window frame. Add 2 inches to each side. Write down your measurement for the width of the window. Adding 2 inches on each side allows for the curtain rod.

Measure the length of the window frame. Place the end of the measuring tape on the outside edge of the top window frame. Measure down to the bottom edge. Add approximately 2 inches above the top window frame. Write down the length. Adding 2 inches above allows for the curtain rod to be placed slightly above the window.
