How to Cure the HPV Virus in Males
HPV, or human papillomavirus, is one of the most common sexually transmitted disease. Experts estimate that nearly half of all sexually active men and women in the U.S. will contract the disease at some point.
There are several types of HPV. Some of these types cause nothing more serious than genital warts, but other types, if left untreated, can lead to cervical cancer or penile cancer. Though the genital warts can be treated, there is no cure for the HPV virus. Prevention is key.

1
Abstain from having sex. Abstinence is the only method that will completely protect you from contracting HPV.
-
2
Use a condom. Condom use can reduce your chances of contracting the HPV virus, but it does not guarantee protection. HPV can cause genital warts on the entire genital area, as well as the anus. You can contract HPV simply by coming into physical contact with these warts. No one is certain how much protection condom use offers, because the various HPV viruses cause different symptoms in different people.

3
Use spermicide. Though spermicide can reduce your chances of contracting the HPV virus, it does not guarantee protection. HPV viruses are not spread simply through contact with sperm or vaginal fluids. HPV is spread through sexual contact, particularly contact genital warts or open sores. No one is certain how much protection spermicide use offers, because the various HPV viruses cause different symptoms in different people.

4
Avoid sexual contact during an outbreak of genital warts. If your partner has HPV, do not engage in sexual activity when he or she has visible genital warts. Not all types of HPV cause genital warts, and the virus can be spread even when warts are not present, but HPV is most contagious when warts are present.

5
Get regular checkups. If you are sexually active, it is important to see your health care provider annually. Ask your physician to examine you and run tests for any sexually transmitted diseases. Remember, HPV does not always cause genital warts. It is possible, particularly for men, to have HPV without knowing it.
