In 48 hours, you can purify water of all contamination including Cholera, typhoid and other germs. And it tastes great! No more buying bottled water. Imagine that. This is great for the environment, as well as for emergencies. It's free, and your carbon foot print will be that much lighter.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • empty glass Bottles
  • sunlight
  1. Step 1

Purchase the largest glass bottles of juice you can find. Drink the juice. SAVE THE LID.

  2. Step 2

Rinse the bottles of juice, and fill them with tap (or other more natural source of fresh) water. Leave about two inches of space between lid and fill line.

  3. Step 3

Place bottles in direct sunlight on a NON FLAMABLE SURFACE. Leave for 48 hours.

  4. Step 4

Enjoy your purified, great tasting and practically free water. I learned this technique from a cute little couple at my work, but found out that it is currently being used in under-privileged countries where clean potable water is not readily available.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pass this green tip on!
  • DO NOT place your bottles on a wood deck. Remember how you used to burn things with a magnifying glass as a child? Yep. You've been warned.

on 3/3/2009 It actually does have to be glass. The Plastic will cause chemicals to react differently. Also, the plastic is worse for the environment. Thanks!
