1
Choose candy. Color-coated chocolate candies, gummy candies and even individually wrapped hard candies are perfect for a children's party centerpiece. If your party has a color theme, select candy of that color. It's important to evaluate the age of the children when selecting candy. Young children, for example, should not be given chewy candy or hard candy. For infants and toddlers, you may wish to select colored cereal instead of candy.

2
Select an assortment of clear glass containers with covers. The containers should range in size from a small candle jar to a large candle jar. Choosing jars with covers will help you best monitor candy consumption and allow you to have control over when the candy is eaten.

3
Fill the jars to the top with candy. If you wish to play "Guess how much" with your candy, you'll need to count how many pieces of candy that you put into each jar. Write how many pieces there are on a small piece of paper and tape it to the bottom of the jar. Allow the kids to guess how many pieces of candy are in each jar and give the candy jar to the child that makes the closest guess. Reserve some jars for playing "Guess how much" while allowing the kids to snack out of the rest.

4
Group all the jars together in the center of the table. To turn the centerpieces into party favors, make enough candy jars to allow one for each guest, and use puffy paint to write the name of each guest on the jars.

Tie helium balloons around the tops of a few of the jars. Scatter confetti or colored, shredded paper around and In between the jars. This will help create a festive look.

Tips & Warnings
You can purchase larger bags of candy at warehouse stores like Costco or BJ's. If you are looking to find a specific color or two of candy and don't want to sort through bags and waste other colors, consider ordering customized M&M candies at www.mymms.com.
