Things You'll Need:
- IRS REFUND CYCLE CHART
-
Step 1
FIND THE IRS REFUND CYCLE CHART. Google "IRS Refund Cycle Chart". In the results, you'll be looking for IRS Publication 2043. This publication will be a pdf file.
-
Step 2
IDENTIFY WHEN YOUR INCOME TAX WAS FILED AND ACCEPTED. Once you have the IRS Refund Recycle Chart, go down the first column and identify when your income tax return was filed and accepted. If you filed electronically, you'll get an email notification. If you paper file, you can check the status by using the "Where is My Refund" IRS tool.
-
Step 3
IDENTIFY WHEN YOU'LL GET YOUR INCOME TAX REFUND CHECK. Once you know when your income tax return was accepted by the IRS, simply move to the right on the chart to identify when you can expect your income tax refund in the mail or via direct deposit.
-
Step 4
KNOW THAT THE IRS REFUND CYCLE DATES ARE NOT GUARANTEED. Remember that the IRS does NOT guarantee that your income tax return check will be deposited into your account or mailed exactly on the date provided on the chart. The IRS refund cycle chart provides only estimates. It is generally recommended that you wait about 3 weeks after you file your income tax return before inquiring about the status.
