Step 1
Most cell phones come with a button you can push to record a voice message or sounds. Use this feature to record anything. If you want a free ringtone of your favorite song, play the song, and record a portion of it with your phone. If you want a free ringtone of yourself saying, “ring… ring… ring…”, then simply record yourself talking.
-
Step 2
Save the sound byte you have created on your phone. You aren’t done creating your free ringtone yet though. In this format, you won’t be able to set your sound byte as a ringtone, and it won’t show up on your list of available ringtones.
-
Step 3
Send yourself a text message with the sound you recorded. Depending on your model of phone the process will go something like this: ‘New Text Message’, ‘Add Contact’, then choose ‘Options’, and you should be able to add a ‘Sound’. Choose the sound you recorded, and send the text message to your phone.
-
Step 4
When you receive the text message open it up and listen to the sound you recorded. You should then have an option to save the sound, and set it as a ringtone. Once you save the sound as a ringtone, it will show up in your list of ringtones, and now you have a new free ringtone. Now you can make as many ringtones as you want for free.
