Things You'll Need:
- Open mind
- Desire to do good
-
Step 1
Believe that all people are valuable. This truth can be shown in many ways as we are given opportunities to serve. The more someone feels valued, the more they will appreciate your service to them. The word will spread of your great service and good things will come from it.
-
Step 2
Think about the different ways you can serve someone. Encourage them with a smile, a friendly hello, thanking them for their business, and asking if you can do anything else for them. This will make a person feel cared about. Don't we all want to know that someone cares? You may surprise yourself and realize that you really do care.
-
Step 3
If there is a problem, do your best to solve it without responding emotionally. There is no need to be defensive even when attacked. The person that keeps their cool and keeps emotions in check is the one who gives the best service.
-
Step 4
Remember that even Jesus came to serve. He said in Luke 22:26-27 that, "Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.” Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as a model to show how to serve.
