Interested in foreign currency trading? You can find currency exchange rates without even leaving your computer.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Calculator
  • Computer
  • Spreadsheet software

Step1
Visit a search engine such as Yahoo! or Google.
Step2
Type in the keywords "exchange rates online."
Step3
Press Enter on your keyboard or click the Search button to submit your query.
Step4
Click on a site that best suits your interests or needs from the list of search results provided by the search engine.
Step5
Choose the country or countries whose exchange rate you're looking for.
Step6
Follow the directions on the site to find out the currency exchange rate you're looking for.
Step7
Click the Back button on your Web browser to return to the list of search results and choose another site to explore.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use Bloomberg to access foreign currencies by region or use their currency calculator to determine exact amounts based on the current exchange rate (see Resources).
  • RatesFX provides a wealth of information, including exchange rates from numerous countries and a glossary of currency exchange terms (see Resources).
  • Although the U.S. dollar is commonly used as the benchmark, you can compare the currency of any country to another.
  • If you're planning to travel, find out if the country you're planning to visit has any restrictions on importing or exporting currency.

on 8/8/2006 Don't take loads of cash with you when you go away, as it's too risky, and don't bother with traveler's checks, as they can often be inconvenient (especially when in a group). Instead, have a look on the Internet to find credit or debit cards that allow commission-free foreign use. That way, you don't feel so vulnerable and aren't dependent upon bank opening hours. However, remain vigilant of potential fraudulence and have some cash available in case of emergency.
